KEUNDIA SECONDARY SCHOOL

Keundia Secondary School (Board code-2804, M.P.O. code-5404031303) is situated on the eastern side of Kowkhali P.S. under Pirojpur district. There is a long tradition behind the establishment of the school. The four great Late Md.Hazi Lokman Majhi, Late Md.Erakur Rahman, Late Md.Abdul Hi Master and Md.Abdul Karim planned to do something emmorial in the village. However, they planned to set up a Madrasha. Late Md. Hazi Lokman Majhi (the grandfather of present school S.M.C. Md.Mafidul Islam) and his two cousins Late Abdur Rahman and Late Md.Abdul Jabber donated the sufficient land necessary for the Madrasha, In 1926 the Madrasha started it’s functioning. In 1938 the Madrasha was granted as High Madrasha under the Karachi Islamic Education Board. In 1956, the Madrasha was on the verge of ruin due to a class between two local groups. In 1956, Sher-E-Bangla A.K.Fazlul Haque, the then chief Minister of provisional government of East Pakistan paid a visit to Keundia. He was secretly informed about the matter. He then declared the institution as High School. In 1957 the organization of high school started under Dacca Board. Since then, the school has been going on in full swing. The results of the school are quite satisfactory. The school is organizing Scouts, Girls’ Guide and regularly participating in the Inter school indoor and outdoor games. At present, the school has become the center of local gathering, culture, tradition and local heritage. The school Managing Committee has a long desire to promote the institution as a college.
