Welcome to TEJDASKATHI SECONDARY SCHOOL

As the school area is far away from the then sub-divisional town, Pirojpur and the people of this area were not so well off, the communication system was not in favour of the people, they were deprived of secondary education. Some kind and broad-hearted, important, honourable and some educated persons of that area realized that without education no society can go ahead. Besides, education is one of the basic needs of a human being and essential for any kind of development. They believed that education enhances the ability of a person to carry out the social responsibilities and it helps a man to adopt a rational attitude. So they thought that if a high school could be established here all kinds of children would be able to receive education and keep pace with other enlightened societies. At the same time the society would be able to reach the top of the prosperity like others. Realizing the reality, importance and necessity of education they agreed to set up a school in 1946. At last in 1947 land donor late Al-hajj Md. Sarab Ullah Howlader along with other enlightened person set up a school named Tejdaskathi H.E High school and only Al-hajj Md. Sarab Ullah Howlader handed over a registered deed of 0.64 acres of land to the proposed school. The school began to run smoothly but after 1947 the Hindu teachers of the school migrated to the neighbor country, India for their own interests. Since then up to 1966 the local educated and enlightened persons (late Md. Aftab Uddin Akon is one of them) took upon the responsibilities of the school and worked sincerely to keep up it’s regular activities. In the mean time the name of the school was changed into Tejdaskathi Bilateral high School. Finally it was changed into Tejdaskathi Secondary School in 1967 and so 1967 is considered as the established year of the school. Late Al-hajj Md. Sarab Ullah, Late Al-hajj Md. Abdus Sobhan and many others are the land donors of the school. Al-hajj Md. Nurul Islam Talukder (Ex-Eng.) is one of the finance donors. Biri Shramik Union of Tejdaskathi is also the donor of this institution. There are many name- unknown persons who worked sincerely to establish the school. Late Md. Entaj Uddin Mridha was the first member secretary and Mr. Bylal Dutta was the first Head master of this institution. There is a two-storied school building with 10 rooms, a tin-shed house (kacha) with 5 room, a semi pucca auditorium (divided into three rooms and used as class room), a science laboratory with 2 rooms (not usable) and a tin-shed semi pucca house with 2 rooms (used as science laboratory). There are more than one section in every class and running seven sections are officially and regularly approved by BISE, Barisal in 2003 and then in 2004. The number of students of each is more than sixty. From beginning of the institution it has been running with credit. The institution is now a renowned one of it’s own upazilla. It has already been recognized by SEQAEP in 2012 that Tejdaskathi Secondary School is the best one in it’s own upazilla on the basis of the SSC results of the year 2010, 2011 & 2012. On basis of the previous three years results SEQAEP has granted one lac taka for the teachers and other school related persons. In 1998 FSSAP-2 has declared the school as the best one for the development of female education and given a certificate. It has also been able to hold the credit of those years in 2013. Passing rate is 100% and the number of A+ is eleven in 2013. The co-curricular activities are going on ceaselessly. Very importance is given to sports like cricket, volley and football. The students are also very interested in those games and sports. All kinds of supports are given in this respect. The number of teachers is 19 and the number of students is more than seven hundred. The teachers working here are very careful with their duties and responsibilities. The School is thought to be different from others for it’s management system, results, co-curricular activities, better achievements in sports and finally the recognition of the SEQAEP as the best school.
