From the inception the academic activities started form Purbasha Vaban in 1996,1997 and in 1998 it was transferred to Haripash Sher-e-Bangla Sarak to its own land. It is on 2.08 acre land which was bought by the donation money given by the teachers of this institute.The first tin shed house of 100 f by 22f was built by the donation money of princiopal Md. Khairul Alam and the local people helped by giving wood and by their cordial help. Present office building which is 65x22 s.f was built by the following personalities who rendered their services and great help to build the office. In 1998 the college was transferred to its own building at Sher-e-Bangla Road and the first Academic Affiliation of Mahanagar College was given on Humanities and Commerce group from (5) Josser Board in 1999. Later on Science group also got Academi Affiliation from Barisal Board in 2001an from Education Ministry the first M.P. O of this college was given in 2001. In this regard Al-Haz Abul Hasanat Abdullah Ex–Chief Whiff of the National Parliament and Aftab Husain Ex–Chairman Kashipur Union, Md Aftab Husain played the vital role .In fact without their help it was impossible to get M.P.O. Beside them Shree Bijoy Krishno Dey .Shree Nikhil Sen also helped us in this regard .
