Some education interested persons set up a school at Hoglapatty of Jhalakati Pourasava in 1940. The school was named "Udbodhan Vidyalaya" by Kabi-Guru Rabindranath Tagore. In a short time the school was shifted at a suitable place of the town near the river Sugandha. In 1953 it got recognition as a Secondary School by EAST BENGAL SECONDARY EDUCATION BOARD, DACCA. In 1974 the the primary section (upto class five)was taken under the Government management and the high section (six to ten) was renamed "Udbodhan M.L.(Multi Lateral) High School." By and by its name and fame had spread far and wide and got the name "Udbodhan Secondary School." At present it is the largest Nongovernment High School of Jhalakati District where there are more than 1000 students and 30 working staff including 22 dedicated teachers along with 10 additional class-sections approved by the Ministry of Education.
