THE BRIEF HISTORY OF BARAKOTHA UNION DEGREE COLLEGE Back grond:- Barakotha union Degree College is one of the renowned colleges at Uzirpur in Barisal. It is the government approved Degree College which was established in 1995 by Mr. Saleque Sikder and a group of donors, local elites and patrons. Mr. saleque Sikder is the founder of the College. The College was formally inaugurated on 1st January 1995. The college follows national curriculum textbook board for Higher Secondary Certificate level and for Degree (pass) course, National University's prescribed syllabus is followed with all its distinctive and co-curriculum activities are continually updated and adapted to meet the local needs. History: Since joining Barakotha Union Degree college , Mr. Al-Haj Abu Nasar Mohammed Nasar Uddin the founder principal provided leadership in improving expanding and conducting various academic programs . Barakotha Union Degree has 09 Assistant Professors 21 Lecturers, 03 Clarks and 09 MLSS, All the teachers have higher degrees from reputed Uninersities in Bangladesh. It is very selective in recruiting teachers and admitting students . Its current student enrollment is about 550 . Barakotha Union Degree College has ranked tenth as the number of College in Ujirpur thana in 2013 and is generally acknowledged as a renowned College in Ujirpur thana. The HSC Level was introduced in 1995. The first freshman Classes of June 1995 had 165 student's enrolled in Humanities & Business studies groups. The Degree pass course was launched in 2003. The governing body which provides the overall policy guidelines and approves annual budget of the college is headed by its Ex-G.M H.M Khalek Uzzaman. The governing body Principal and Tezchers runs the adminstration of the College within the policy guidelines provided by Barisal Educational Board and National University. The clark Md. Abdul Mannan Miah maintains the college records including admissions and examination results and keeps liasion with the Ministry of Education.
