Welcome to AMTALI DEGREE COLLEGE Amtali degree college situated in the hart of Amtali pourashava and watered by the `Paira'flowing from the Bay of Bangal is the oldest college in the district of Barguna. Sarrounded by greenrey, this college has a beautiful campus of 09 acres of land. After its establishment under Jessore Board, Amtali Degree College has occupied its position in the `Top-10'more than once in Barisal Board and National University. This college is the only reliable institution for the spread of higher education among the frequently flood affected people of distant places of the locality. In the HSC level, the college has 150 students in Science, 200 each in Humanities and Business Stadies at one shift. At present, the college has a number of 50 teachers and 2283 students. Before the establishment of the college, there was no other college for higher education except Patuakhali college situated at Patuakhali District head-quarters in Amtali, Barguna, Khepupara and Galachipa. Taking donations from the philanthropic persons of the locality and buying 09 acres land, the college started its journey on the 21st July, 1969 (Officially 1st July,1969), the historical day one which man landed on the Moon to create a number of enlightened people having a good sense of humanity. The contributions made by ex-MP Late Nizam Uddin Talukder and Siraj Uddin Ahmed, ex-SDO of Barguna for the development of the college at the beginning will remain ever memorable. Recently, the effarts and co-operations made by the public representitives, administrative officers, teachers-staff, students, guardians, journalists and the GB members headed by Advocate Dhirendra Devonath Shombu, MP and ex-Deputy Minister of food have finally been able to convince the honarable Prime Minister(also elected MP from Amtali in 2001) to make an order for the nationalisation of Amtali Degree College.
