There is no alternative to education in the socio-economic development. Agarpur Degree College was established in1994 with a view to reducing poverty, spreading education among rural poor people, particularly among females. This college is different from others for its guide teaching activities for monitoring all kinds of activities of the students, house-visiting system for conciousness of guardians, reminding speech for knowing a particular subject , monthly teacher-guardian meeting for the estimation of educational progress of the students , tutorial and half yearly exam system , and many other co-curricular activities. We have a modern computer lab with 16 computers and with 24 hours internet connection. For this, we achieve good results in the public exams {H.S.C. and Degree (pass)} and this college dominate the list of ‘Best 20’ in the Barisal Board every year. Moreover, more than 20 teachers out of 48 reside in the college compound. Our college is an exam-centre of H.S.C. and Degree (pass) courses. Besides, our college runs H.S.C. and B.A. / B.S.S. programmes under Bangladesh Open University. Our college is also the exam-center of those programmes. It is mentionable that the running of honors course in the college is under the process of the National University. As a result , the standard of education of this area is developing day by day.
