Syed Afsar Ali Degree College is one of the best institutions of this rural area, Bakerganj upozila, Barisal. It is established on 12th April in 1987 in the village of Moheshpur. It began starting class with only 72 students. At present almost eleven hundred students are studying in this college. Two recognised philanthropists’ brother (1) Alhaz Syed Mohammad Ali (2) Alhaz Syed Wazed Ali and some local elites felt necessity of higher education for this area. Thats why two syed brothers setup this college for spreading the light of education among poor, orphan, helpless people of this area, who can’t afford the expenditure of education for lack of money. Two syed brothers donated about 3.66 acors land and they spent the cost for building, all infrastructures. So founder of this college is Alhaz Syed Mohammad Ali and Alhaz Syed Wazed Ali. Then Alhaz Syed Masud Reza (Ex Member of Parliament) took the charge of this college wholeheartedly. With his care, help and advice this college developed rapidly. This college got Intermediate affiliation from BISE, Jessore, in 1992-1993 sessions and got degree affiliation for B.A, B.S.S, and B.Com (pass) course in 1995-1996 sessions, B.Sc (pass) course in 2001-2002 from National University. In the mean time, we are maintaining H.S.C examination center from 2013. All the teachers and staffs including experienced principal, efficient Governing body are working with great care for the development of academic result of the students and also existing congenial atmosphere under their leadership.
