Welcome to MASJIDBARI SECONDARY SCHOOL AND COLLEGE

The Background and a brief History of the founding of Masjidbari Secondary School and College. The village of Masjidbari, by now devoured almost entirely by the river SONDHYA, in Syedkati Union of Banaripara upazila under Barisal District, is hedged in between this river on the East and a largish marshy area to the West. Its inhabitants used to be as uneducated as they were poor. They still decided, by the mid-60s of the last century, to establish a Secondary School in the village, the first in the then Union of Syedkati. Led by a group of enthusiastic young men, small donations in cash and kind were pooled and a shaky wooden structure with mud-floor and a roof of tin and thatch was put up to house the school. It was founded in 1968, and government affiliation was obtained in 1970 vide Jessore Board order memo no 104 dated 18/8/1970 The first batch of students from the school appeared at the S. S. c. examinations in 1972 after the war of liberation One of the initiating young men, Mr. Ali Ahmed, who recently retired as a Member of the National Board of Revenue, had taken up leadership after liberation of the country and raised the status of the school as an A-grade Institution of its kind. He is the founder of the Institution. In 2003, Higher Secondary courses were added to the school and it has been re-named as it is now. It got academic recognition from the government vide letter no wkg/kv: 11/3(5)/2001/1422 date 10/11/2004 A catastrophe befell this educational Institution in 2012, when the whole of the land and buildings, numbering one two-storied and three one-storied buildings, along with other properties of the school and college, were devoured by the river. It has now been shifted to a relatively safer place to the West. More than 72 ( Seventy-two) decimals of land has been donated by the founder on which sprawling tin-sheds have been put up to house the school in its new location. The government has recently sanctioned a three-roomed building for the school, which is yet to be constructed. It now needs generous assistance by the Government to construct buildings to house its Humanities, Science, Business Study and Vocational wings.
