A brief overview of Dhamura Degree College (DDC)
Dhamura Degree College was founded in 1970 by educationist Arshad Ahmed. It was established on about seven and a half acres of land with the assistance of the local patronage. Although this institution began its journey with inadequate infrastructure, it has grown into a number of multi-storey buildings over the years. Owing to the high quality of the education, the college has gained wide recognition in the Barisal district. Many of its students have subsequently achieved acclaim and success across the country and abroad, a trend that still continues. The participation of the students in arts, sports, cultural, social and humanitarian activities has cemented its reputation as a renowned institution of higher learning. At present, the number of students of DDC is more than twelve hundred. In addition to the government’s educational stipends for students in need, there are special scholarships offered by the college’s administration. The support of the local community is one of the main drivers in the success of Dhamura Degree College along with experienced teachers and professional staff.
