Welcome to FATEMA MATIN MOHILA COLLEGE

The College is located in the heart of Charfassion Bazar adjacent to Charfassion Thana Headquarters. To the south of the college lies Charfassion-Betua Road, to the west Mainuddin Jahangir Road, to the north the office of the Residential Engineer of PDB and to the east Mandertek canal. History of the College: With the view to establishing a Women’s College at Charfassion, the then Upazilla Nirbahi officer of Charfassion Upazilla, Mr. Abdullahel Baki, invited some of the leaders of the community to a meeting on 23/08/1993. Among others who spoke in the meeting was renowned educationist Mr. Abdul Hoque Madraji. He informed the meeting that he had already taken initiatives in this regard and had talked to a number of elites and social workers inviting them to contribute to establish a Women’s College at Charfassion. In response to his call, a great soul of Charfassion Upazilla and founder of Charfassion Orphanage, Mr A.K.M. Alhaj Abdul Matin Miah, came forward with his helping hand to contribute to setting up a women’s college on his land. The participants of the meeting were made aware of Mr. Matin Miah’s great contribution to developing education in the Upazilla, especially as a member of the managing committee of T.B. school for more than a decade. He was also one of the founding members of Charfassion College and founder of Charfassion Orphanage, and had donated land for the office of the Sub-Register of Charfassion. The meeting decided to set up a college on the land of Alhaj Abdul Matin Miah. Accordingly, Mr. Abdul Matin Miah donated 1.52 acre of land for the college and according to his wish the college was named `` Fatema Matin Women’s College’’ after the name of his wife following the rules of the government. His daughter-in-law, wife of his only son Advocate Mainuddin Ahmed Jahangir, and former English Newscaster of BTV, Mrs Dilruba Haider, was appointed the Honorary Principal of the college. The college started functioning from the session 1993-1994 with 108 students 6 teachers, a clerk and a peon. The College initially offered only studies in the Humanities Group. The College was originally housed in a tin shed. Principal Dilruba Haider rang the bell first to open classes and started a new arena of Female Education at Charfassion. As a result of the sincere efforts and devotion of the Principal Dilruba Haider, the college received academic recognition of Jessore Education Board from the session 1993-1994 and the teachers and staffs were enlisted in the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) of the Govt. from 01/01/1995. Subsequently the college got academic recognition of Science and Commerce Group at H.S.C. level and BA/BSS/BBSS(Pass) Course under the National University. The present imposing building was built and paid for by the Government in 2006. At present, the college has 64 employees including teachers and staff, and 740 students are studying at H.SC. and Degree level. From its inception the college has been maintaining good academic standard and has become a beacon of quality education.
