Garuria Secondary School was established in 1946. The founder of the school was Atul Chandra Banerjee. At that time the students of this area had to go to Kalaskati B.M. Academy (5 k.m far away from here)for studying Atul Chandra Banerjee was a student of that school. Once he applied for remission of tution fees. The then secratary of the said school was a Zaminder named Rajessar Roy Chowdhury who said to him obliquely. "If all Bramins become educated, where shall we get brahmin cook?" This comment hit him severly. From that day he began to think of a school in this olcality for poor students. After completing his graduation degree Atul Babu called a meeting of local elits and requested all to help him in establishing a school. All the presence unanimously accepted it and ensured him to be by his side. Add. Laxman Banerjee willingly offered land and other elits offered money or materials to build a school house. Thus the school was established.
