Historical back ground : Tofazzal Hossen (Manik Mia ) Degree college established in 1984 with the vision to spread the light of education among the poor and illiterate students of Kathalia started functioning at Kathalia pilot high school as Kathalia college. Md. A.Rab Nakib, founding principal and his dedicated colleagues spent their valuable time and energy to make this institution one foot. Local elites and Manik Mia’s family played active role to flourish its march. Later the activities of Kathalia college were shifted to its present campus and the college was re-named after the name of renowned and gifted journalist Tofazzal Hossen Manik Mia. The students of this college do outstanding results every year, especially mentionable that two students of this college occupied 5th and 7th position in merit list of Barisal Board in 2002. In the meantime, Tofazzal Hossen (Manik Mia ) Degree college, has been marked as one of the best colleges for its epoch-making results and co-curricular activities. All the teachers are sincerely toiling to embody this college as an ideal institution of the country.
