Alhaj Zalal Uddin College which was established in 2001 by a renowed industrialist eng.Md.Towhidur Rahman is situated in the sea coast of Bay of Bangal and is in the middle of Kuakata-Gongamoti sea beach and third Payra sea port. Most of the people of this area live under poverty line and live by catching fish.So they could not send their children to college which is situated 20km far away.In this situation,to spread education among the rural students Moulovi Alhaj Zalal Uddin realized to establish a college in this area.But it stopped when he died in 1996.His second son eng.Md. Towhidur Rahman wanted to materialize his father's dream. So he established this college.This college is absolately free from politics.The teachers of this college are very assertive,co-operative and sincere.There are three academic building in this college. There is a students' hostel in the college campus. The students of this college practise cultural funtion every week. The college is going to open science group this year. There is a plan to make it a digitalized college and to take classes through projector and to develop it as a university. This college gained 6th position in 2005 and 2011 in the merit list of Barisal Education Board.
